Wellness Begins Within
Amy's style of practice and teaching asana revolve around the exploration of breath and prana (energy) in the body and mind. It is the observation of the quality of this breath and subtle energy that connects us to our own inner stillness. We use the yoga postures and their form to explore the first layer of opening and resistance, which may be felt as certian freedoms and tightness or tensions in the body or mind. Thru this practice many wonderful revelations about all facets of your life may be experienced. We learn the practice of letting go and of finding the balance between effort and surrender. When we are able to explore the balance of strength and suppleness on our yoga mats, the challenge of balancing in our daily lives become more easily attainable.
The practice is designed to bring balance to our life as a whole. Therefore some classes may be more fluid, exploring more free forms of movement as a meditation, while other classes may focus on longer holding of the postures exploring refining alignment as a means to find inner stillness.
All classes will have a stong emphasis on breath, and breath observation throughout the practice.

is the perfect place to start a yoga practice, or to explore your understanding of poses in more depth. Designed to help you learn the basic postures, breathing and meditation techniques, this class is Hatha-style and focuses on proper alignment and creating familiarity with each pose in depth. Body awareness, core strength and integrity are taught along with attention to the subtle aspects of the practice. Use of props including blocks, straps, and more is fostered and refined. In the yoga classes students are encouraged to learn and explore the postures using various modifications appropriate for the individual presented by the teacher.
YogaFlow classes will begin the exploration of bringing the movement of the body and the breath together.
The YogaFlow classes are vinyasa style, dynamic in nature. We are moving thru the postures, sometimes slow and deep and sometimes more swiftly with attention to aligning our movement with the breath. It is helpful to have a basic familiarity of the standing postures, and an understanding of your physical limitations. These classes are not recommended for those with severe injuries or for first time students. Beginning students who are physically active will be fine in a fluid class as long as they are willing to listen to the teacher and honor their body.
Deeper pranayama (breath exercises) and meditaion techniques, and more challenging postures are used as tools for self discovery. All students are encouraged to honor their bodies, minds and spirits. The teachers will present more challenges, however the students are guided to listen to their bodies, and develop even keener self awarness and inner, not just outer expression of the postures. We learn to allow the practice we choose to nourish us on all levels. Everyone here at All One Yoga and Wellness wants to help you find the right path for you.
Persoanl Sessions will focus on a broad range of therapeutic techniques from yoga, somatics and physical therapy. Amy draws on her back ground in Vini Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Reiki, as well as stuctural therapy techinques to help strengthen the muscles around our neck and spine to maintain the natural curves of the body. Learn to use relaxation, breath, back and core strengtheners and simple stretches to keep you neck, hips, joints and spine in good physical condition.
Private instruction is available for individuals, or small groups, who need to modify for injury or illness, who would like their practice tailored to their needs, or for those wanting to approach the use of yoga as physical and emotional therapy.
Private instruction is also an excellent compliment to any athletic discipline. A special practice can be designed by the teacher to balance out the effects of your particular sport.
